Building a Bright Tomorrow
First 5 Trinity is a public organization created in 1998 and supported by Proposition 10 Tobacco Tax Funding. We are an independent, self-governing commission led by community members with specialized expertise or interest in Trinity County's youngest children. We are committed to the mission of being a partner and leader for young children ages 0 to 5.
First 5 Trinity County’s comprehensive approach to early childhood education aims to provide services for children, families and educators in the home, in the community and in the classroom to ensure children enter school ready to learn.
"Play is often talked about as if it were relief from serious learning. But for children, play IS serious learning." ~ Fred Rodgers
At First 5 Trinity, we understand the developmental milestones that take place in the earliest years of a child's life and are committed to making those years count. We know parents and caregivers play the most important role in a child's life, which is why we work to ensure that the resources and connections families need are available in our community.
The Trinity County First 5 Children and Families Commission meets at least 5 times per year at 10:00 a.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. Alternate or special meeting dates may also be posted. Location varies.

Public education and outreach is one of the primary functions of the California Children and Families Commission. Sing.® campaign, First 5 California’s flagship Kit for New Parents, and the First 5 Express.
Families are their children's first and most important teachers, especially when it comes to the critical brain development that happens during the first few months and years of a child's life. First 5 Trinity is committed to promoting strong families and thriving relationships by investing in early learning and care initiatives in our County. We work to accomplish this through providing our Community's youngest children with health and developmental screenings, high quality school preparedness, parent education and health education. It is our goal that all children have the safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments necessary to achieve healthy development.
